چکیده
Plant resistance is an important tactic within the precepts of Integrated Pest Management, and existence grain sorghum hybrids with multiple insect could benefit crop management sustainability. This study evaluated susceptibility 30 grain-sorghum to three major pests, namely, fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda, sugarcane borer (SCB) Diatraea saccharalis, green-belly stink bug (GBS) Diceraeus melacanthus. The were cultivated experiments each species conducted separately in a greenhouse. For FAW, visual injury assessments performed on plants 7 14 days after infestation (DAI). SCB, presence assessed 40 DAI. GBS, using damage rating scale 12, 19, 26 Cluster analysis allowed separating into groups regarding levels pest. Hybrid BRS373 stood out as moderately resistant FAW; AG1090, 80G20, BRAVO, BRS373, AG1615, IG220 most promising for SCB; 50A40, A9735R, JADE, ENFORCER, BUSTER, 50A10, IG244 nominated. information will significantly aid breeding programs focused developing commercial that comprise both insect-resistance high-yield characteristics. However, further research should evaluate potential chemical morphological plant traits underlying lower GBS found selected hybrids.

The presence of lignin within biomass impedes the production of liquid fuels. Plants with altered lignin content and composition are more amenable to lignocellulosic conversion to ethanol and other biofuels but may be more susceptible to insect damage where lignin is an important resistance factor. However, reduced lignin lines of switchgrasses still retained insect resistance in prior studies....

The composition of a chloroform seed extract of C. papaya was determined by GC-MS. Nineteen compounds were identified, with oleic (45.97%), palmitic (24.1%) and stearic (8.52%) acids being the main components. The insecticidal and insectistatic activities of the extract and the three main constituents were tested. Larval duration increased by 3.4 d and 2.5 d when the extract was used at 16,000 ...

We characterized the dynamics of mortality factors affecting immature developmental stages of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Multiple decrement life tables for egg and early larval stages of S. frugiperda in maize (Zea mays L.) fields were developed with and without augmentative releases of Telenomus remus Nixon (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) from...

Eriopis connexa (Germar) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) occurs in several countries of South America and its mass rearing is important for biological control programmes. This work evaluated biological aspects of E. connexa larva fed on eggs of Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) frozen for one day, fresh eggs of Dia...
